Biography
- My name is Melanie, I am a West Australian artist specialising in coloured pencil pet portraits.
- My artistic journey began under the guidance of my grandfather, an accomplished artist who taught me the fundamentals of drawing animals and landscapes during childhood.
- Growing up my weekends were spent on boats exploring the ocean with our family who taught Scuba Diving . This inspired me to sketch marine life and animals.
- After stepping away from art to work in the healthcare industry, I returned to drawing in 2024 following the loss of our family dogs.
- Art became a healing outlet during grief, and from that emotional journey, Barks to Sharks was created.

- A small business dedicated to creating heartfelt, hand-drawn pet portraits, celebrating the bond between humans and their companions.
